My name is Kylie Hutchinson (she/her) and my ancestors are settlers from England and Ireland. I was born and raised on Haudenosaunee territory, what is now known as Burlington, Ontario. I now live on skwxwú7mesh úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) territory, in the town of Ch’kw’elhp, also known as Gibsons, a short ferry ride from Vancouver, BC.
I have spent the past thirty years working in the not-for-profit sector as a consultant, trainer, program manager, board member, and volunteer. Working both domestically and internationally, I have assisted groups with dozens of projects varying in scope and complexity that have yielded timely, relevant, and actionable results for my clients. In 2011 I received my Credentialed Evaluator designation from the Canadian Evaluation Society. In 2020 I was honored to receive the Canadian Evaluation Society’s Contribution to Evaluation in Canada award. In 1990 I received a student award from the Canadian Evaluation Society for an evaluation framework I developed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
I love working with nonprofits of all shapes and sizes to develop strategic plans that are meaningful, realistic, and most important, actionable. I am an experienced Nonprofit Lifecycles Capacity Consultant. and am passionate about helping nonprofits of all shapes and sizes develop realistic and meaningful capacity-building plans. One of my favourite activities is creating order from chaos.
I have a strong background in training and facilitation and have assisted many organizations in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors to build their internal evaluation capacity. I am well-known across the North American evaluation community for my popular webinars and workshops and am an innovative and engaging keynote speaker. I hold a diploma in Instructional Design and am a former instructor at the Justice Institute of British Columbia’s Instructor Development Program. From 2005 to 2011 I delivered the Canadian Evaluation Society’s Essential Skills Series in British Columbia. These days I am a regular pre-conference workshop presenter at the American Evaluation Association’s annual conference and Summer Evaluation Institute and tweets my insights weekly at @EvaluationMaven.
In my spare time I am a Knowledge Philanthropist offering pro-bono nonprofit capacity-building services for Vantage Point, a LEAP Ambassador, and a volunteer cycling advocate and board member with Transportation Choices Sunshine Coast. When I’m not working, you can find me with my family, in my veggie garden, canning tomatoes, hiking or skiing the local mountains, or doing errands on my electric bike.
“Thanks Kylie. We’re setting aside time at our next board meeting to continue the discussion as a group. Some preliminary work is already underway. You lit a fire!!”
